‘Recently my work has taken a new path. A move away from the functional, conventional vessel, stepping towards a more expressive, sculptural form.

The language of clay is much like the language of the body, sensual and full of tactility. It is a joy to work in this way, conscious of these forms being shaped in my hands.’

Isobel creates one off sculptural piece’s, some abstract, some more figurative, all with a refined edge. She is looking to create work that is somewhere between a contemporary form and an artefact – as though they have been dug out of the earth.

Alongside her making, Isobel teaching hand building ceramics classes to adults and children from her studio near Lindfield.
